Senior QA Engineer with Strong Business Analysis Capabilities

N-iX is looking for a Senior QA Engineer with strong Business Analysis (BA) capabilities to play a dual role in both validating quality and bridging requirements.

This hybrid position ensures the team not only delivers technically stable solutions but also stays aligned with business expectations. You will participate in knowledge transfer, requirement clarification, backlog refinement, and release validation, while also ensuring end-to-end quality coverage across device apps, backend services, and companion apps.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute manual test cases for device apps (Notes, PDF/EPUB, System UI), backend APIs, and companion apps.
• Validate functional, non-functional, and security requirements (performance, encryption, GDPR).
• Track and manage defects, ensuring clear prioritization and closure.
• Support the setup of automation coverage with AQA engineers.
• Lead release readiness checks during internal validation and pre-release testing.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, clarify, and document requirements.
• Define acceptance criteria and edge cases in user stories.
• Maintain requirement traceability from backlog items to test cases.
• Contribute to backlog grooming, prioritization, and roadmap alignment.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer documentation, capturing workflows, dependencies, and business rules.
• Act as a bridge between product stakeholders, engineering, and QA, ensuring a shared understanding of scope.
• Participate in ADR discussions, risk reviews, and scope clarifications. Work closely with PMs, engineers, and designers to de-risk delivery.
• Ensure feedback loops are in place with business and product teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of QA experience with exposure to both manual and exploratory testing.
• Prior BA role or hybrid QA/BA role experience.
• Proven ability to work with requirements (elicitation, documentation, acceptance criteria).
• Experience testing Android apps, backend APIs, and content synchronization workflows.
• Familiarity with SQL, Postman/Swagger, and API testing tools.
• Strong understanding of Agile ceremonies and backlog management.
• Solid English communication skills, able to engage with technical and business stakeholders.
• Strong analytical mindset with both detail orientation and big-picture thinking.
• Excellent communicator — able to translate business needs into testable requirements.
• Proactive collaborator who ensures alignment between QA, engineering, and product.
• Quality- and value-driven: committed to delivering what truly matters to users.
• Upper-Intermediate/Advanced English level, ability to engage with technical and business stakeholders.
• Advanced+ Ukrainian language level.

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with e-Ink devices, embedded Android, or device-companion ecosystems.
• Knowledge of automation frameworks (Espresso, UI Automator, and Cypress).
• Analyze competitors to cross-check the functional completeness, and use additional sources for enhancements.
• Prioritize the scope with stakeholders and ensure the proper sequence of delivery.
