Shipper Account Manager

The Shipper Account Manager is responsible for driving organic business growth of existing brokerage customers and further developing long term relationships with our shipper contacts. This position reports to Sr Shipper account managers, Operations manager or Director of operations.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively identifying key decision makers, their needs and managing and growing shipper relationships on assigned accounts.
  • Growing volume, margin and revenue by identifying growth opportunities, cross selling ILS services and coordinating with all appropriate NFI resources and client decision makers to present solutions.
  • Understanding market conditions and utilizing tools and resources provided to accurately price to strategically position NFI and win business and grow revenue.
  • Creating account specific business plans and conducting pipeline reviews and presenting growth opportunities and risks to the Director of Operations and branch leadership.
  • Conducting regular client meetings, business reviews and presenting client with NFI value prop, KPI dashboards and performance metrics.
  • Skilled negotiation of rates and services with clients for FTL, LTL, and Intermodal services.
  • Ensure shipper commitments are met, working with internal teams and executing operational tasks as needed.
  • Supporting dedicated sales resources by having consistent communication with sales on opportunities, as well as proactively identifying and communicating issues/threats.
  • Develop, implement, and manage an SOP for each assigned account and maintain customer service concepts and rates implemented by the overriding salesperson.
  • Proper positioning of brokerage services within the NFI network.
  • Response to sales inquiries and providing pricing on transactional based business as well as pricing proposals where applicable.
  • Ensuring proper follow up and management of all loads.
  • Breaking through internal obstacles that limit growth/service consistent with NFI deliverables.
  • Clear communication of service expectations and exceptional customer service/follow-up with all parties involved.
  • Foster growth in brokerage business through collaboration with all NFI Departments and willingness to do “Whatever it takes” to ensure customers’ needs are met.

Qualifications

  • BA or BS Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years Brokerage experience preferred working with domestic truckload, LTL, and intermodal shipments.
  • Experience in account management is a plus
  • Familiarity with DOT trucking regulations (Hours of Service, Claims etc)
  • Proficient in using MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment that involves learning and using multiple applications and handling a high volume of phone calls
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional communications and conflict resolution skills
  • Rudimentary knowledge of TMS programs used for brokerage services
  • Market knowledge of truckload lanes and rates
  • Individual commitment towards sharpening existing or acquiring new skills as required by demands of the business or customers.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on shipment volume.

We are excited to share the base hourly rate for this position is $22.21 - $32.74 per hour. NFI takes into consideration applicants' qualifications, experience, education, geographic location, when determining a starting rate of pay.
