Medical Assistant/Technician Medical Surgical - Cardiology/Heart Failure Services - Queens Medical Group - Full Time Days

Medical Assistant performs a variety of clinical and clerical functions, in accordance with established policies and procedures, to assist the practitioners and management in daily office operations.
In this role, you will:
- Assure the patient is properly prepared for the visit to maintain timely patient flow
- Observe the patient's condition, report abnormal conditions to the staff nurse, and record appropriate documentation in the patient's records.
- Measure and record patient height and weight, perform routine vision and hearing examinations, and take pulse and blood pressure readings.
- Draw blood from patients and/or perform finger sticks and obtain other specimens as physician or registered nurse requested.
- Assist with diagnostic procedures using aseptic principles in creating and maintaining a sterile field during procedures.
- Maintain stock items for examination and blood drawing rooms, forms used by clinical staff, etc.
- Performs clerical and secretarial work as needed. Interacts with patients and colleagues in accordance with institutional service excellence standards.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
This is a Full Time, Monday-Friday day shift position (9AM - 5PM) and overtime as needed. Required to go to other Queens Medical Group Locations as needed.
Preferred Criteria:
- Completion of a formal Medical Assistant training program
- Medical Assistant Certification
- Minimum of one year experience as a Medical Assistant preferably in a cardiology practice.
Required Criteria:
- High School Diploma or GED
- America Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers required within 30 days of employment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP. NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.
Salary Range: $30.65-$34.65/Hourly
