Marketing & Digital Media Sales Internship (Unpaid)
ABC17 FOX22 and The Networks of Mid-Missouri are seeking enthusiastic and driven individuals for an unpaid Marketing & Digital Media Internship.
Starting this fall, gain valuable, real-world experience in developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies for local businesses. This internship is designed to provide hands-on training and insights into the dynamic world of broadcast and digital advertising, preparing you for a successful career in marketing.
We're looking for motivated college/university juniors, seniors, and graduate students who are passionate about helping businesses grow through strategic marketing initiatives. Preference will be given to students who plan to live and work in the Columbia/Jefferson City, MO area.
What You'll Experience:
- Work alongside experienced Marketing Consultants and managers to develop and implement integrated marketing campaigns leveraging television (ABC17, FOX22) and our NPGDigital platforms.
- Learn to identify client needs and craft solution-based marketing proposals that drive results for local businesses.
- Gain exposure to cutting-edge research and marketing tools used to create successful advertising solutions.
- Develop essential skills in client communication, presentation, and strategic thinking within a supportive environment.
- Develop proficiency in relevant marketing and advertising software utilized by our stations.
- Understand the day-to-day operations, fundamental processes, and unique advantages of local broadcast television.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Communications, Marketing, Sales, English, Journalism, or related field.
- Available to work a flexible schedule to coincide with your college studies. Please note this is an unpaid internship.
- Possess excellent communication (written and verbal) and strong organizational skills.
- Self-motivated, able to work collaboratively, and passionate about interacting with diverse individuals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet-based platforms is a plus.
Additional Information:
While this is an unpaid internship, it offers invaluable experience and networking opportunities within a leading media organization. All internships are contingent upon the successful outcome of a background check. Candidates will need to have a current driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.

Essential Duties:
- Engage with other departments in Television station
- Assist Local Account Executives with preparation of presentations
- Help schedule appointments for Local AE's or Sales Managers
- Assist local and national sales assistants with paperwork and other daily functions
- Learn and review the functions of all copiers, printers and other work area machines
- Read all daily/weekly/monthly periodicals for industry information
- Ride alongs with Account Executives to visit customers
- Work directly with Traffic Manager and other traffic employees to understand Wideorbit
- Work directly with Commercial Producers to understand Script writing
- Work directly with Commercial Producers to understand all steps and procedures required to shoot, edit, and finalize commercials for air.
- Work with Local Sales Manager to schedule use of appropriate training materials and videos
- Work with Integrated Marketing Consultant to better understand all Digital Sales Efforts
- Correspond with external customers as needed
- Other duties as required by Sales Management
Preferred Skills/Education and Certification:
- Preference will be given to students engaged in an Accredited Internship course, but not mandatory
