Your Impact

You will supervise the operation and safe closure of the tailings facilities, leaching piles and water storage of Minera Yanacocha. You will also ensure compliance with the technical and safety standards, ensuring a reliable and sustainable geotechnical performance.

As Part Of Our Team

You will supervise and/or participate in activities to achieve and maintain the geotechnical performance of the tailings facilities, leaching piles and water storage by means of inspection, measurement, data management, interpretation, analysis, coordination, problem solving and reporting.

You will be a point of contact for the Newmont Corporate Waste and Dams Team, which includes informing and/or updating the corporate team on matters of interest, the status of performance indicators, progress towards established action plans, and other tasks.

You will collaborate with operators, engineers and maintenance personnel to ensure that the observed performance of the tailings facilities, leaching piles and water storage meets the established objectives.

You will work with the Engineer of Record (EoR) and/or other key personnel (internal and/or external) to support the implementation and supervision of construction quality control (CQC) and construction quality assurance (CQA) activities for the tailings facilities, leaching piles and water storage. You will complete the monthly critical control (CCR) reports for Yanacocha tailings facilities.

You will support and/or facilitate site projects related to waste, leaching piles and/or water management structures, including those that support the mine life planning (LoM).

You will help develop, maintain and implement strategic plans and capital maintenance forecasts for five-year plans and LoM, as needed for Yanacocha tailings facilities, leaching piles and water storage.

You will attend regulatory inspections of Yanacocha tailings facilities, leaching piles and water storage, provide the required information and communicate the results to Yanacocha and corporate management teams if there is a high risk of non-compliance.

Requirements To Succeed In This Role

You must have a degree and be registered in one of the following fields: Civil, Geological, Mining or related (master's degree desirable).

You must have experience in the management of tailings and water storage facilities and leaching piles.

You must have knowledge of geotechnical instrumentation, stability analysis, filtration and hydraulics.

You must be proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD and geotechnical analysis tools.

You must have the ability to lead teams and communicate effectively.

You must have intermediate spoken and written English.

You must have a clear commitment to safety and compliance with the Global Tailings Management Standard (GISTM).
