Reporting to the Director, Structural Engineering, in the position of Specialist, Structural Engineering, you will analyse and assess structural integrity and maturity, formulate condition reports and monitor business partner performance to ensure alignment and support for asset integrity initiatives.

As part of our team you will:

  • Analyse thorough reviews and audits of the current structural integrity of assets, adhere to standards and identify areas for improvement
  • Assess the maturity of structural systems and processes and identify gaps and opportunities for enhancement
  • Formulate comprehensive reports based on integrity and maturity assessments and recommend actionable improvements
  • Coordinate with team members to execute and close out actions identified during audits and reviews and ensure all necessary improvements are executed effectively
  • Monitor and assess the performance of partners involved in structural maintenance and support activities and ensure they meet quality and contractual standards
  • Deliver oversight and support to ensure timely and effective close out of all action items from integrity and maturity assessments
  • Advise direct subject matter guide support to address critical risks and incidents related to structural systems and deliver technical guidance and solutions
  • Run investigations into structural incidents, diagnose root causes and formulate solutions to prevent recurrence
  • Improve continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the reliability and performance of structural systems
  • Maintain effective communication with key stakeholders including site-based teams, external partners and senior leadership to ensure alignment and support for structural integrity initiatives.

Prerequisites for your success in the role:

  • Degree qualified Civil Engineer with Structural Engineering Specialisation essential
  • Engineers Australia Chartered Professional Engineer current accreditation
  • The Institution of Structural Engineers Australia membership advantageous
  • Project management training advantageous
  • Monitoring and improvement of structural engineering standards, risk management and compliance experience gained within large-scale, owner operated mining and/or oil and gas operations
  • Solid understanding of industry-specific structural design, integrity assurance, risk mitigation and governance frameworks across fixed assets in surface and underground operations
  • Operational experience maintaining and assessing existing infrastructure, with exposure to API tank standards and port/marine works highly desirable
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Your work environment:

This permanent position will be offered on a flexible work arrangement based out of Newmont's Perth office in Subiaco, Western Australia. Applicants living in another Australian capital city location will only be considered if the ideal candidate.

The position will require flexibility to travel to Newmont office and/or mine site locations on a regular as required basis, including international travel.
