Project Engineer Opportunity
This role is part of the megaproject to construct two water treatment plants for the Newmont Yanacocha mine. You will be responsible for ensuring that the plant is built following the technical design criteria from the owner's team perspective.
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for verifying on-site that the installation of mechanical systems and equipment meets the technical criteria, safety, and operation defined by Newmont and its technical partners. You will not execute or design, but will represent the owner, ensuring that the work is built as planned.
As part of our team, you:
- Will represent the Newmont technical team on-site, validating that the construction meets the approved plans, technical criteria, and specifications.
- Will verify the installation of plant piping systems and critical mechanical equipment according to the technical manuals and project standards.
- Will review and validate technical documentation, including quality reports, assembly procedures, and change proposals.
- Will actively contribute to the technical assurance of the project during its construction phase, working in close coordination with contractors, specialists, and technical offices in Lima and Santiago.
- Will review and approve significant design changes proposed by the contractor.
- Will verify technical documentation and quality control associated with the construction.
- Will support the technical assurance of the project during its construction phase, collaborating with contractors and multidisciplinary specialists.
Requirements for your success in this role:
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping, Electrical or Control Systems (Instrumentation).
- Previous on-site experience as part of the owner's team, technically validating the installation of piping, mechanical equipment, or pumping stations.
- Participation in industrial or mining projects, preferably in water treatment plants, booster systems, or medium/long-distance pipeline networks.
- Ability to interpret and validate on-site execution according to plans, technical sheets, manufacturer manuals, and design criteria.
- Knowledge in reviewing technical and quality control documentation (QA/QC).
- Technical criteria to identify deviations and collaborate in their resolution without compromising safety or operational performance.
- Desirable experience in pre-commissioning, commissioning, or start-up phases.
- Domination of basic engineering tools for review (AutoCAD, reading P&ID, technical specifications).
- Ability to interpret engineering models and analyses from software and technical systems of the contractor.
- Current driver's license with at least 5 years of experience.
- Technical English desirable for reading and understanding specialized documentation.
Your work environment:
- You will work on-site, in close collaboration with contractors and technical team specialists.
- You will be part of a highly specialized senior team.
- Fixed-term contract (12 months), with the possibility of extension according to project needs.
- The work regime is 14 days of work followed by 7 days of rest, in a day shift.
- The project is located between 3,000 and 4,000 m above sea level, so good health and physical condition are required.
- Availability to travel and support in other locations nationally and internationally is expected.
- Residence in Cajamarca or willingness to relocate is preferred.
