Your Impact:

  • To provide geotechnical expertise to ensure ground stability and support safe mining operations.

As Part Of Our Team, You Will:

  • Support the preparation, maintenance, and execution of strategic plans to enhance the operation's slope stability program and suitable mining bench.
  • Deliver, execute, and assess mine design parameters for current and future pit, waste dumps and other facilities on the mine.
  • Supervise and conduct geotechnical, hydrological and hydrogeological planning, modeling, instrumentation monitoring including data collection activities, structural mapping, pit dewatering rate, reconciliation of designs, core logging and rendering of results utilizing specific software.
  • Supervise geotechnical and hydrological instrumentation installations in the mine area including prism installation, slope monitoring radars, core drilling, VWP installation and dewatering wells.
  • Provide assistance to contractors in execution of Geotechnical and Hydrological works.
  • Execute geotechnical drilling, mapping and laboratory tests to anticipate any changes which may affect the geotechnical features of the mining area.
  • Supervise the continuous monitoring of pit walls, waste dumps, stockpiles and TSF through visual inspections and instrumentation to predict and alert operations of any potential instability.
  • Supervise regular geotechnical inspections of active and inactive areas in the mine.
  • Report accurate, timely and relevant geotechnical and Hydrological information to the Mine Operations supervisors and team members, planners and site management.
  • Mine Geotechnology: Assessing relevant risks, executing mitigation measures, and continuously monitoring for risks.
  • Provide, implement and review mine design parameters for current and future pit, waste dumps and other facilities on the mine.
  • Provide technical support on all water related issues on site including TSF, Water Storage Facility, Sediment Control Structures, Water Dams, Underground Operations and Projects etc.
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly update on Ahafo In-pit Sumps and Pumping Volumes, Geotechnical-Hydrology reports.
  • Documentation: Reporting and presentation of Geotechnical and Hydrological works including: instabilities, inspection, dewatering KPIs, geotechnical analysis etc.
  • Implement radar and RTS monitoring for designated site areas.
  • Supervise geotechnical and hydrological instrumentation installations in the mine area including prism installation, core drilling, VWP installation and dewatering wells.
  • Provide assistance to contractors in execution of Geotechnical and Hydrological works.

Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

  • Bachelors' Degree in Geology / Geological Engineering / Earth Science/Civil Engineering.
  • Mineral Commission Statutory Certification as required by region or related fields.

Additional Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering, hydrology, and mine design.
  • Demonstrated experience in geotechnical instrumentation, geotechnical monitoring and data analysis, slope stability, and risk mitigation.
  • Solid understanding of practical Mine operations.
  • Demonstrated understanding risk management and business improvement principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project and/or contract management.
  • High level of communication skills.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years' experience in an Open Pit Mining environment, with a solid background in Geology and Hydrology.
  • Experienced with MineSight.
  • Proficiency in Geotechnical and hydrological Software such as RocScience (Dips, Slides, Phase, Rocfall) and Dewatering System engineering estimation and modeling.
  • Experience with Geotechnical and Hydrological Modeling and Interpretation.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in geotechnical engineering, slope stability, mine design, and hydrological instrumentation.
  • Competent in geotechnical monitoring, geotechnical and hydrological tools, data collection, and risk mitigation relevant to mining method.
  • Competent in risk management and business improvement principles and practices.
  • Foundational proficiency with project and/or contract management.
