Your Impact:

  • Understand underground aquifers systems and manage water inflows, providing strategic plans to support underground dewatering, ground stability and safe production.

As Part Of Our Team You Will:

  • Lead field-based studies using advanced hydrogeologic and geometric analysis techniques including structural mapping, modeling and observation of location of all water ingress zones to create a 3D model with continuous updates from underground field conditions.
  • Coordinate design, planning, costing and installation of all dewatering systems, monitoring instrumentation and upgrade works.
  • Collate hydrological studies with other geologic dataset such as water pressures and water flow monitoring in different zones to ascertain draw down rates and productive pumping rates.
  • Compile "SEEP MAPS" to determine specific flowrate variances throughout the mine over time.
  • Compile a mine water balance to determine water inflows, water quality and what is required or to be used for services as well as have data for future planning of capital pump stations to cater for changes in water inflows recorded over time.
  • Oversee hydrological instrumentation monitoring, data collection activities and dewatering rate to predict and mitigate any potential instabilities or flooding.
  • Oversee tracking of mine dewatering KPIs and water balance and use it to provide timely and relevant hydrological information to the Underground Mine operations team, team members, planners, site management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Create surge capacity by capturing and actively pumping flows to reduce risk to production zones and decline.
  • Coordinate development and maintenance of underground water management plan to be approved by relevant stakeholders and drive its implementation with the planning and operations teams.
  • Develop all water management and hydrology SOPs and provide training in water management related activities (hydrology, hydrogeology, dewatering systems etc) as required in an informal or formal setting.

Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

  • Bachelors' Degree in Geology / Geological Engineering / Earth Science/ Civil Engineering or any relevant academic or trade qualification.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in hydrogeology, hydrology, structural geology, operational engineering and risk management.
  • Advanced proficiency in geotechnical engineering, mine design, and instrumentation.
  • Competent in using hydrogeology/hydrological software application including water balance modeling.
  • Competent in geotechnical & hydrological monitoring, geotechnical and hydrological tools, data collection, and risk mitigation relevant to mining method.
  • Competent in risk management and business improvement principles and practices.
  • Competent proficiency with project and/or contract management.
