This position is located with the Division of Clinical Services at the Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM. This position serves as the Supervisory Physician (Administration)-Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Medical Services, with full responsibility for Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health Services, Walk-In Primary Care Clinic (WIPCC), Diabetes, and Social Services for the facility.
Responsibilities include: exercising overall supervisory responsibility for the management and direction of the clinical services provided at GIMC, including the departments of Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Walk-In Primary Care (WIPCC), Diabetes, Physical Therapy, Behavioral Health, and Social Work; managing the provision of care in the pediatric, internal medicine, and family practice clinics; and being responsible for overall quality and performance improvement activities in outpatient clinics and inpatient medical units.
Requirements include: U.S. Citizenship is required; Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959; this is a designated position requiring contact or control over Indian children; a one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required; Confidential Financial Disclosure Form required; IHS Selectees may be required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges; and successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
Qualifications include: a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada; a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting; and for GS-15, 5 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training.
