The Reliability Engineering Technologist 3 reports to the MSS-APT Group Leader and is responsible for driving the long-range strategic planning process while contributing and guiding the reliability program for the maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and/or other facilities. This position will help develop policies relevant to facility maintenance activities. Ensures common processes and procedures are utilized by deployed groups. Monitors and contributes to the management of institutional maintenance issues and supports subcontracted and/or in-house facility maintenance services. Additional responsibilities will be to contribute and help build the Predictive Maintenance Program at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. Maintains required safety and security training, assures safety and security compliance, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Knowledge & Expertise:
Working knowledge of Predictive Maintenance technologies such as Vibration Analysis, Thermography, Ultrasound and Motion Amplification. Demonstrated experience of engineering maintenance techniques and construction methodologies. Demonstrated experience of engineering work planning and control methods. Working knowledge of project and process engineering practices.
Maintenance Operations:
In-depth knowledge of and experience with facilities management including systems engineering design and maintenance, safety/authorization basis, configuration management programs, work control, facility control systems and equipment installation and setup. In-depth understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
Communication & Teamwork:
Demonstrated ability to change the thinking of or gain acceptance from others in sensitive situations. Demonstrated experience and skill in identifying problem areas, investigating alternative solutions, and determining action to be performed on problems affecting maintenance and site services programs and processes.
Technology:
Demonstrated experience with using a CMMS system, such as Asset Suite.
Education/Experience:
Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology Science, Math or related degree from an accredited institution and 8 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge Reliability Methodologies. Knowledge of PdM Technologies. Certified Reliability Leader (CRL), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Certified Plant Maintenance Manager (CPMM). Q Clearance.

Work Location:
The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position Commitment:
Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
