Kāpili Services is charged with making the above hardcopy materials easily accessible to DTRA deterrent mission researchers in a way that provides knowledge and meaning through the use of digitization, Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and data science.

The successful candidate for the Model and Simulations Expert position will evaluate and understand historical data (including legacy code) to produce scientific and technical assessments for modern missions. The candidate is expected to be able to review, evaluate, and analyze programs written in legacy codes such as Fortran 77, 90 & 95. Strong collaboration with other DTRA departments and agencies will occur.

Description Of Responsibilities:

  • Broad understanding of programming and interface with both modern and legacy codes in relation to weapons effects and design.
  • Understand, compile, and execute legacy tools with advanced AI/ML translation capabilities to rewrite with modern syntax.
  • Support projects by performing targeted modeling and simulation using DTRA-provided nuclear environments, effects, or survivability tools.
  • Author technical reports, present at seminars, and provide training materials to technical leaders and community partners.
  • Propose projects and analyses, as well as assist in the design, test, and implementation.
  • Review individual documents, presentations, videos, films, and instrumentation datasets.
