Mental Health Technician Opportunity
Amergis Staffing is seeking Mental Health Technicians for full-time contracts in Albuquerque, NM! Position details include a contract length of 13 weeks with the possibility of extension. The schedule requires 5 8-hour shifts per week, including availability on weekends. The weekly hours are 40, and the pay rate is $20 per hour. Previous experience in mental/behavioral health is required.
The Mental/Psychiatric Health Technician cares for individuals with psychiatric conditions and various substance use disorders, following the instructions of physicians, nurses, or other health practitioners. The Behavioral Health Technician monitors a patient's safety, physical, and emotional well-being and reports directly to the medical staff.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Providing personal care and behavioral assistance/interventions to assigned clients
- Assisting clients with grooming, eating/meal preparation, and toileting
- Maintaining rounding on assigned clients/patients to ensure safety as directed
- Assisting with ambulation and transfer services
- Monitoring vital signs such as heart rate and blood pressure
- Providing behavioral support services
- Providing crisis intervention
- Encouraging independence
- Maintaining patient safety
- Implementing behavioral plans
- Documenting care per policies and procedures
- Participating in rehabilitation and treatment programs
- Performing other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum requirements include:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's degree in behavioral studies or related field, or equivalent experience preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
- Computer proficiency required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
