Operations Specialist 2

As the Operations Specialist 2, you will be responsible for maintaining the preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and Department of Transportation/Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations programs. Serve as the Group Key Custodian and work with the P&T Operations Manager, P&T Engineering, P&T Hazardous and Nuclear Material Transfer Operations and Maintenance and Site Services to manage and schedule PMs, develop new PMs, initiate CM, maintain the master equipment list utilizing the Computer Maintenance Management System, and assist in the coordination and execution of work schedules. Additionally, you will support P&T's DOT/FMCSR administration. You will develop, monitor, and validate accuracy and auditing of performance data, reports, and other statistical information. You will also maintain databases and other programs as required for the use in the development of performance measures and other required data administration. Evaluate maintenance program process and implementing procedures for potential improvements.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of facility related equipment and maintenance.
  • Full understanding of and experience with performance assurance metrics.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with document control and records management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication.
  • Skill in the preparation and presentation of reports.

Education/Experience: Position requires an Associate's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 4 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the Laboratory's quality assurance policies, practices, and procedures.

Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details:

  • Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2.
  • Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.

  • Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances.
  • 426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities.
  • New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
  • Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
