The Maintenance & Site Services - Automation and Predictive Technologies (MSS-APT) group provides reliable, responsive, and customer-focused support across Los Alamos National Laboratory's Facility Operations Directorates (FODs). We deliver solutions for the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Predictive Maintenance and Analytics, Building Automation Systems, and Equipment Reliability. The Building Automation Systems (BAS) Operations Liaison (Operations Specialist) will monitor BAS and analytics software to identify HVAC equipment failures, performance and comfort issues, work with the Facility Operations Directorate (FOD) Operations group to determine course of action, and provide input, guidance, and support for LANL craft and technicians in repair efforts. This position will be embedded with the Operations organization of the specific FOD (WFO, STO, LFO, or IF) assigned to. In addition, this position will work collaboratively with the BAS engineering on identifying the root cause and proposing recommended repair, design, or programming modifications. Systems included are network connected commercial grade heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and multi-zone systems that incorporate pneumatic, electronic, and/or programmable logic controls.

Minimum job requirements:
Technical Expertise: Knowledge of HVAC installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance. Knowledge of troubleshooting and repair of digital controls systems, including unit controllers, sensors, actuators, and motors. Understanding of principles and basic components of DC electronics. Ability to read electrical/electronic diagrams, blueprints, technical manuals, and control logic blocks in software.
Technology: Skill in the use of computers and basic network configurations. Organizational and computer skills to include ability to use Excel spreadsheets and create lists in SharePoint.
Planning & Prioritization: Ability to develop heating, ventilating, and air conditioning system modification plans. Ability to document and track preventive maintenance activities. Knowledge of mechanical systems, building materials, and emergency maintenance.
Communication/Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong customer service skills to include the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
Education/Experience: Position requires an Associate's Degree and 4 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular Position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
