The Engineering Vié will provide support to engineering teams by assisting in increasing the robustness, reliability, and standardization of dimensional inspection processes used in the production of composite aerospace components. The mission will include activities related to computer and software management for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), calibration processes, tooling sustainment, and project management of associated improvement initiatives.

Projects/teams the Vié will work on and what is expected to be completed by the end of the assignment:

  • Establish automated and physical backup systems for all CMM computers across the production floor.
  • Standardize the probe replacement process, including lifetime tracking and replacement protocols.
  • Lead the planning and execution of computer replacements for Spacer CMMs and Tooling CMMs.
  • Support software changeover and dimensional result validation for Fan Case CMMs.
  • Finalize and implement certification and calibration procedures for moment weight machines and master blades.

Scope and responsibilities:

  • Complies with all established policies and procedures.
  • Required to comply with all OSHA and EPA regulations related to these operations.

Skills to be acquired/developed in position:

  • Understanding of CMM operations and dimensional quality control in a high-tech production environment.
  • Ability to apply structured problem-solving to industrial IT systems and measurement equipment.
  • Project management involving cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, Metrology, IT, Quality).
  • Familiarity with calibration methods and measurement equipment traceability.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy automatic backup systems and contingency protocols for CMM computers.
  • Define, document, and implement a complete workflow for CMM probe lifecycle management.
  • Coordinate with production and subcontractors to execute CMM computer replacements with minimal disruption.
  • Support analysis, validation, and documentation of control software updates for Fan Case CMMs.
  • Define and standardize the procedure to certify moment weight masters and calibrate measurement equipment.

Required competencies – Education/Knowledge/Skills:

  • Basic understanding of dimensional metrology and coordinate measurement systems.
  • Interest in or experience with measurement software, industrial IT, or production automation.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage documentation, schedule follow-ups, and coordinate actions across departments.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization.
