The Chemical Engineer 2 supports projects related to Hologic's chemical products in a manufacturing environment. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, this position assists with planning, implementing, and maintaining processes to support manufacturing, including equipment/material/process specification, validation, and supply chain risk mitigation. The role collaborates with Operations and R&D to assist in releasing and validating new chemical products and processes into Manufacturing.
Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating manufacturing procedures and specifications
Support troubleshooting of chemical manufacturing processes in compliance with Quality System requirements
Contribute to the design and planning of equipment needs and layout; assist with installation coordination
Participate in projects to reduce cost and supply chain risk under supervision
Assist with developing and executing validation plans for process and material changes
Support test plans and root cause analysis at product and process levels
Help implement changes from R&D into manufacturing in collaboration with cross-functional teams
Collaborate within cross-functional groups; manage assigned project tasks and support resolution of issues/conflicts
Effective communication in both written and verbal forms with team members and management
Basic ability to define and troubleshoot chemical formulations under supervision
Ability to write and edit technical documentation, such as work instructions and specifications
Familiarity with process piping, blending, and pure water system equipment
Basic knowledge of project management techniques
Exposure to LEAN manufacturing principles preferred
Ability to analyze data and situations; assist in developing proposals or action plans
Ability to support corrective action plans in collaboration with team members
Ability to manage multiple assignments and coordinate work with others
BS in Chemical Engineering required
Minimum 2-4 years of industry experience, preferably medical or pharmaceutical product related, within manufacturing operations, with a demonstrated increasing level of responsibility
The annualized base salary range for this role is $78,500 to $122,000 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs, and market demand.
