Solar Operations Analyst II

We are seeking a proactive Solar Operations Analyst II to work as a critical component of our fleet operations team, serving as the central hub for real-time monitoring, analysis, and dispatch. This pivotal role demands expertise in detecting and analyzing system performance deviations, managing incident response and work orders via SCADA and CMMS (Salesforce Drive O&M), and coordinating essential communications with both field personnel and external entities like grid operators. You will leverage your strong foundation in power system fundamentals and a minimum of two years of solar industry experience to ensure the continuous, compliant, and efficient operation of our renewable energy assets. This position will work out of our Annapolis, MD office.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze system performance and identify deviations from expected operation.
  • Action alerts across monitoring and asset management software.
  • Incident categorization, initial troubleshooting and escalation of issues (alarms, faults, abnormal operations) using enterprise SCADA and CMMS applications.
  • Familiarity with SEL relay remote communication, event retrieval, event analysis, and remote operations.
  • Perform tracker system remote operations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Salesforce Drive O&M (CMMS) functions.
  • Enter and manage work orders to ensure traceability of all activities.
  • Field phone calls and log corresponding entries in CMMS.
  • Fault/alarm resolution either by remote resets or coordinating with field personnel.
  • Manage transfer of information between Data Acquisition Systems (DAS), CMMS, and data room.
  • Communicate professionally via email with internal and external clients.
  • Coordinate with external entities like TO, grid operator and balancing authority as applicable.
  • Make proper notifications to scheduling coordinators, transmission/grid operators in the event of derates or planned outages as required.
  • Participate in client meetings as required.
  • Comply with contractual requirements for monitoring and dispatch.
  • Execute emergency response procedures in accordance with safety plans.
  • Create and maintain documentation to effectively support the operating fleet. This may include operating procedures, turnover documentation, work instructions, etc.
  • Attend technical training and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Attend Quarterly in person office visits.
  • Additional responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of demonstrated solar monitoring and industry experience.
  • Experience working with renewable generation (Wind, PV, BESS) is preferred.
  • Competency in power system fundamentals is required.
  • Experience working in power generation or transmission control centers is preferred.
  • Ability to draft and review standard operating procedures, checklists, and specifications.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules as required to support business needs or seasonality, including holidays and weekends as required.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe and Outlook and proven ability to learn new software programs.

Education

  • 2-year technical degree, military experience in a technical field, or equivalent industry experience is acceptable

Compensation and Benefits

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000, encompassing base pay and potential incentive target opportunity. This range is a good faith estimate based on the position's requirements. Specific compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary depending on factors such as relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
