The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Vice Chancellor and Chief General Counsel. The position may be located in either Las Vegas or Reno, Nevada.
The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions: two universities, a state college, four community colleges and research institute. The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant opportunities in serving over 105,000 students and 15,000 employees.
The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) provides strategic leadership and input to the Chancellor and Cabinet on NSHE’s strategic planning process and administration. The CHRO works directly with NSHE administrators in the development, coordination, implementation and administration of policies and procedures, ensuring legal compliance and alignment with NSHE’s mission, values, and talent strategy to support the workforce needs of System Administration, which includes the System Computing Services unit (SA). The position provides overall direction for NSHE’s HR function, including talent acquisition, employee engagement and retention, employee and labor relations, learning and development, total rewards, workforce management, and HR technology management.
This position may be located in either Reno or Las Vegas but will provide leadership and services to both SA offices. Intermittent travel to ensure visibility at both SA offices is expected.

Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree in human resources, organizational development, or a related field and at least ten (10) years of progressive experience in HR leadership, with a minimum of three (3) years at the executive or senior leadership level, preferably within higher education or large, complex organizations. Required Certification(s): SHRM-SCP or equivalent HR certification; Title IX Coordinator training or obtain within sixty (60) days of hire.
