Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive test plans for complex systems, including risk assessments and resource allocation.
  • Set up and operate measurement instruments, perform calibrations, and conduct data acquisition, cleaning, and statistical analysis.
  • Create detailed technical reports and user manuals, adapting communication styles to different audiences.
  • Generate basic actuator designs, analyze igniter performance, perform stress analysis, and contribute to solid rocket motor systems.
  • Perform complex structural, dynamic, thermal, and tolerance analyses, optimize designs, and make informed decisions.
  • Create intricate 2D or 3D designs using CAD tools, producing precise technical drawings and interpreting GD&T symbols.
  • Develop program plans, coordinate activities, and manage risk management strategies.
  • Lead small teams, develop procurement strategies, and manage vendor evaluations and contract management.
  • Essential Skills:

    • Advanced skills in component and subsystem integration.
    • Proficiency in data acquisition, data cleaning, and statistical analysis.
    • Ability to independently operate measurement instruments and perform calibrations.
    • Strong communication skills for technical presentations and writing tasks.
    • Expertise in creating 2D or 3D designs using CAD software.
    • Ability to perform complex structural, dynamic, thermal, and tolerance analyses.
    • Understanding of systems engineering principles, including risk management and safety principles.
    • Basic financial knowledge and project management skills.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    • Four (4) to seven (7) years of mechanical engineering experience.
    • Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or relevant disciplines from an accredited university. Equivalent experience may be considered.
    • Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
    • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

The role involves utilizing state-of-the-art technologies and equipment, with occasional travel required.     Job Type & Location:

    This is a contract position based out of Reno, NV.

    Pay and Benefits:

    The pay range for this position is $51.92 - $74.51/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
