Field Service Director

Phillips 66 & YOU - Together we can fuel the future. The Field Service Director is responsible for technically supporting a Technical Sales Director (TSD) in the Mining Segment of Phillips 66 Lubricants, supporting activities with Direct Customer accounts, and servicing marketers to ensure optimal growth in sales, earnings, and customer satisfaction. This position will have primary focus and account responsibilities in the Western United States (primary NV/UT/WY) with travel to eastern locations (AL, IL, IN, KY, PA, WV) as needed for customer support. Location can be based in Northeast (Elko, Nevada - preferred) or Salt Lake City, UT.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Operate safely to both Phillips 66 and end-user standards when on their properties.
  • Provide input and work with the TSD for developing and implementing business plans.
  • Participate and support sales activities, presentations, and lubricant training classes both within the segment and with direct customers.
  • Coordinate and communicate with the TSD to minimize and resolve direct customer issues.
  • Maintain pertinent data entry of all assigned accounts in Salesforce.
  • Maintain all required regulations, MSHA, end-user required training, site access registration, etc.
  • Manage individual expense budget.
  • Interact directly with customer personnel at the customer's site.
  • Able to develop and present training materials in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism with customers in the face of adversity.
  • Knowledge of Phillips 66's portfolio of products to guide optimization at customer sites.
  • Assist with the Design, Execution, and Documentation of Account Cost Saving and Best Practice Projects.
  • Participate in business reviews as scheduled - providing information on activities, cost savings, efficiency projects, and project completion reports.
  • Know contract commitments for all assigned customers to ensure compliance and accomplishment of agreements.
  • Able to lead lubricant surveys and audits, evaluate lubricant usages, volume requirements, and assess and recommend business practices at customer sites according to Best Practice Recommendations.
  • Assist and communicate with marketers in providing efficient on-time deliveries to Direct Accounts for Phillips 66 - supporting the process flow so that outstanding delivery service can be provided to the customer.
  • Able to troubleshoot, problem solve, and participate in root cause failure analysis when mechanical failures occur.
  • Able to review and interpret oil analysis reports and make recommendations based on the findings.
  • Support business development activities and cultivate new commercial relationships within the segment.
  • Provide market and product intelligence to the brand and product management groups.
  • Produce and present the lubricant survey book and audit reports for the end-user.

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid and current driver's license.
  • 5 or more years in mining and/or industrial plant experience.
  • Willing to travel at least 50% if required.
  • Must be able to drive long distances and/or arrange other approved travel.
  • Willing and able to go "underground" as needed to support mining locations, and able to work at heights/confined spaces.
  • 1 or more years of commercial and/or industrial sales experience.
  • 1 or more years of mechanical experience.
  • Proven track record of working with customers to the benefit of all parties.
  • Able to self-manage schedule and time, work independently, and not require daily supervision.
  • Proficient in basic MS Office applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or greater in a technical field.
  • Working knowledge of underground and surface mining equipment.
  • 5 or more years of sales experience in commercial or industrial fields.
  • Expansive knowledge of mining equipment, operations, product lines, and/or plant equipment.
  • Familiar with typical machinery operation to aid in inspections and audits.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills in reviewing historical performance and developing improvements.
  • Ability to develop spreadsheets to support metrics for cost controls or KPIs.
  • Ability to identify and pursue opportunities to improve Phillips 66's standing with existing customers or to gain additional business or customers.
  • Holds industry certifications (CLS, MLA, other).
  • Manages detail and multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Demonstrates effective problem-solving experience.
  • Listens well, documents accurately, forecasts effectively.
  • Team player with Phillips 66 employees, marketer employees, and end-user contacts.

Base pay for this role could range between $121,000 annually- $141,000 annually.
