Human Resources Clerk

Under direct supervision, this role is responsible for providing clerical and administrative support across various Human Resources functions. The position requires a high level of confidentiality, strong attention to detail, and intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective employee assistance and respond to routine HR-related questions.
  • Assist in the administration of Human Resources programs supporting division and organizational goals.
  • Support special HR projects with clearly defined instructions related to employee selection, placement, development, and retention.
  • Gather data and prepare routine reports; proofread and correct grammatical, typographical, and compositional errors.
  • Process and verify accuracy of employee documentation, including:
    • Status change forms
    • Leave and vacation requests
    • Benefits documentation
    • Educational reimbursement requests
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel records and files.
  • Enter and audit HRIS data, including wage rates, classifications, payroll data, benefits, employee history, and address changes.
  • Process HR transactions such as new hires, transfers, terminations, promotions, performance appraisals, salary changes, and employment verifications.
  • Partner with Payroll to assist employees in resolving pay discrepancies.
  • Maintain HR bulletin boards, including job postings, company announcements, and government notices.
  • Provide general clerical support, including:
    • Sorting and distributing correspondence
    • Assisting with event and activity planning (setup/takedown)
    • Ordering departmental supplies and stationery
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of general office experience, including 6 months of Human Resources experience, or equivalent related experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and function as a collaborative, team-oriented professional.
