Fire Protection Engineer PE (On-Site)

Description
We are seeking an experienced Fire Protection Engineer (PE) to join our Orlando team. The Fire Protection Engineer will be responsible for system design, engineering calculations, and ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards. This role requires a strong background in fire protection or mechanical engineering, the ability to work independently, and proven leadership skills. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of technical expertise, client-facing experience, and the ability to mentor junior staff while managing complex projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 6 years of work experience.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States.
- Knowledge of fire protection codes, discipline-specific standards, and applicable building codes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Leadership experience and ability to manage client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering calculations and design layouts for fire protection systems in compliance with codes, standards, and procedures.
- Apply practical engineering knowledge to resolve project issues and conflicts.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers and Project Managers to discuss design scope, budget, schedule, and site requirements.
- Assist in preparing design budgets and schedules; estimate man-hours for design tasks.
- Supervise designers and assign tasks to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Develop and deliver complete construction documents that align with client and project requirements.
- Review preliminary and final engineering designs for coordination, functionality, and compliance.
- Conduct quality assurance checks in coordination with technical managers.
- Maintain direct client contact for design updates and technical guidance.
- Mentor and motivate junior engineering staff, setting high standards of professional integrity.
- Meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality and compliance.
- Perform additional duties as required.
