Electrical Project Engineer (On-Site)

Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer (PE) to join our team in Phoenix. This role requires a strong technical background in electrical engineering, along with proven experience in system design, engineering calculations, and client interaction. The Electrical Project Engineer will work independently with minimal supervision, exercising judgment in applying policies, standards, codes, and procedures. The ideal candidate is capable of resolving project challenges, making sound engineering decisions, and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations and design layouts for electrical systems in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
  • Resolve project-related issues with practical engineering solutions and independent decision-making.
  • Supervise and mentor subordinate personnel or assist other engineers and designers as needed.
  • Collaborate with Project Engineers and Project Managers to review scope, budget, schedule, phasing, and site conditions.
  • Contribute to the preparation of project budgets and schedules.
  • Estimate discipline man-hours required to complete design tasks.
  • Assign and supervise design responsibilities to designated designers, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Implement system types as selected by the Project Engineer and produce complete, coordinated construction documents.
  • Review preliminary and final designs across disciplines to ensure coordination, function, and quality.
  • Perform final reviews of engineering drawings and ensure quality assurance in coordination with the technical manager.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding project requirements, progress, and technical issues.
  • Mentor and motivate engineering designers, promoting professional integrity and high standards.
  • Ensure timely delivery of quality design work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • 8 years of experience in electrical engineering design and project work.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical discipline codes and relevant building codes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to educate and guide clients.
  • Ability to manage and develop personnel, assign tasks, and ensure team success.

Skills

  • Proficiency in REVIT and engineering modeling tools.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with equipment selection and system design.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making.
  • Strong ability to motivate, mentor, and direct team members.
