Coordinates with HIM Operations Manager and Operations Leads to assess daily workflow to ensure prompt resolution of all functions performed within Health Information Management Operations including release of information, HIM compliance, duplicate number resolution, document imaging, transcription, record management (paper and electronic), chart correction and/or deficiency tracking and physician suspension. a) Coordinates and maintains various projects for all areas within HIM Operations and works with HIM Leads to ensure successful outcomes. Performs routine workflow assessments and makes recommendations for improvement. Supports management by providing some clerical and general office support, logistical coordination, and assistance with fiscal/data management. Provides support for manager and/or director as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year experience in Health Information Management or healthcare setting required.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Demonstrated analytical abilities to identify and comprehend opportunities for operational improvement through observation, data analysis and interpretation required.
- Knowledge in PC based applications, specifically Microsoft products required.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain working relationships in department and hospital to foster a team environment required.
- Must be a self-starter, exercise independent problem solving skills and manage job priorities in a self-directed manner required.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIM state and federal regulations required.
- Knowledge of The Joint Commission and CMS medical record documentation and timeliness regulations required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in an academic acute care hospital setting preferred.
- Associate's degree preferred.
- Previous experience with Epic HIM modules preferred.
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
