We are looking for a skilled, detail oriented, Registered Nurse with experience in home health, hospice, and/or ESRD facilities for the role of Nursing Services Surveyor Consultant located in Lincoln, NE. In this role you will be an integral part of our Public Health Division by performing state and federal surveys of home health, hospice and ESRD and other facility types to ensure compliance with both state and federal regulations.

As a Nursing Services Surveyor Consultant, you will be:

  • Primarily surveying or inspecting home health agencies, hospices, ESRD dialysis facilities, adult day services and other types of health care facilities and health care services to determine compliance with state and federal regulations and program standards to qualify for licensure and certification.
  • Determining compliance of assigned health care facilities/services with statutes, regulations, and standards of practice.
  • Determining adequacy and proper use of patient equipment, proper medication provision, administration, and storage.
  • Reviewing:
    • patient records and care plans to determine adequacy of patient care and treatment
    • nutritional services
    • rehabilitation services
    • physical environment
    • sanitation of premises
    • infection control and the level, type, qualification and training of facility/service staff
  • Observing and interviewing staff, families, and patients.
  • Preparing written deficiency reports that comply with Federal/State protocols and performance standards.
  • Investigating complaints to determine deficient practice.
  • Scheduling for timely completion of surveys, inspections, complaint investigations and revisits to ensure completion of the required number and types of surveys, inspections, and complaint investigations.
  • Providing information on statutes, regulations, and survey or inspection protocols.
  • Explaining guidelines and any other program requirements to assist licensees and providers in understanding and complying with licensure and certification requirements.
  • Preparing for and providing testimony in contested licensure and certification cases.
  • Conducting Informal Conferences and Informal Dispute Resolution for contested cases involving health care facilities or health care services.

PAY RATE: $33.033 - $46.130/hour. Pay rate may commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Thursday, 7am - 5:30pm

Requirements/Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Post high school coursework/training in professional nursing AND experience in hospital, public health or nursing administration, teaching or surveying health care facilities.

Legal Requirements:

A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a registered nurse in Nebraska.

Preferred Qualifications:

Direct care experience in home health, hospice or ESRD facilities

Other:

Must have a valid driver's license. Frequent overnight travel required- typically 3 overnights per week. Must be able to work 10 hour shifts, travel in a car up to 2 hours per day. Must be able to carry a laptop or tablet computer and perform and document observations of wound care, dining services, kitchen services, infection control, etc.

Must have good assessment skills, good documentation skills, must be able to communicate through verbal and written communication.
