The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles seeks an experienced and strategic leader to serve as the Driver Licensing Services Division Administrator. This position provides executive leadership to the Driver Licensing Services Division, plans, organizes, coordinates, directs, and controls statewide Driver Licensing and Driver Examining operations, ensuring compliance with state and federal law while delivering consistent, efficient, and customer-focused services. Job Location: Lincoln, Nebraska

Examples of Work

  • Provide executive oversight and strategic direction for statewide Driver Licensing and Driver Examining operations.
  • Coordinate division operations with other DMV functions and external partners.
  • Supervise professional and administrative staff.
  • Draft and implement policies, procedures, rules, and legislation.
  • Formulate and manage division budgets.
  • Prepare and manage grant applications and funding.
  • Represent the Department at state and national meetings.
  • Oversee CDL, Third-Party Tester, and Problem Driver Point System programs.
  • Lead information technology initiatives related to licensing and testing.
  • Authorize administrative actions related to driver license status.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration or related field with an emphasis in management AND experience with driver licensing laws and procedures. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of State statutes; federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations related to driver licensing and driver examining programs; Department of Motor Vehicles functions, rules, and regulations; principles and practices of management including administration, personnel, accounting, and auditing; systems design and analysis; and grant application processes.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency personnel, county officials, law enforcement, the general public, and administrators in other states; interpret and apply state and federal policies; identify problem areas and develop effective solutions; communicate effectively; develop goals and objectives; establish priorities; and plan, assign, and supervise personnel.

Skills in presenting ideas and information clearly and effectively to individuals and large groups.
