HR Specialist/Generalist (Open)

Location: State Human Resource Office, 2433 NW 24th Street, Lincoln, NE

Job Duties:

Manages the entire payroll process from collecting and verifying employee hours and data to calculating wages, taxes, and deductions, ensuring timely and accurate biweekly deadlines are met. Resolves pay-related issues, payroll audits and serves as the primary point of contact for employee pay inquiries. Manages Worker's Compensation claims, processes FML requests and explains the State's benefit and retirement packages and types of leave for new and end of employment employees.

Coordinates HR programs, functions, or processes to ensure compliance with State Personnel rules, labor management agreements and contracts and administrative procedures. Coordinates, develops, presents, and evaluates HR orientation materials and SOPs pertinent to our agency. Serves as a backup on the recruiting process. Answers questions and explains personnel policies and procedures to teammates and supervisors under State Personnel rules and multiple labor contracts.

Other duties as assigned.

Starting hourly pay rate is $21.527.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Two years of coursework or training in personnel management, business administration, public administration/administrative or three years of related experience.

Other: Background/motor vehicle request checks will be required prior to hire. Must have a valid driver's license.

Knowledge of general practices of diverse areas of personnel administration including wage administration, talent acquisition, performance evaluations, management-teammate relations, payroll and benefits.

Ability to communicate with others individually and in group presentations, with employees and management alike. Able to interpret and apply governmental rules, multiple labor contracts, agency directives and work instructions.
