Job Duties

  • Evaluate requests for information against legal requirements and agency policies.
  • Oversight of records and informational processing procedures within the Communication and Public Policy Division and NDOT.
  • Formulate and implement procedures and policies that align with state and federal regulations concerning public information, effectively guiding how such requests are processed.
  • Conduct administrative and research projects, analyze and interpret NDOT policies, legislation, and data.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence, and recommend courses of action to facilitate responses to the public and stakeholders.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate work units and operations, and the activities of staff.
  • Coordinate with other agencies, users of NDOT services, product vendors, and service contract representatives to identify and secure agreements about specifications, schedules, billings, and other aspects of the products provided and services rendered.
  • Coordinate agency-wide equipment repairs and contracts administered, pertinent to the operations managed, to ensure appropriate administration and use of these resources.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and review work performance of assigned staff with established standards to determine the quality and quantity of employees' work.
  • Recommend personnel actions such as appointments, promotions, disciplinary actions, and identify employee training needs to improve career advancement potential.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, education, public relations, or a related management, communication, or human relations discipline, and three years of experience: in coordinating activities of one or more work units; or in managing resources of a work unit or an organizational operation; or in supervising assigned employees; or in leading/guiding members of a work group or project team. Additional years of education or experience in the areas described may substitute for the required experience or education, on a year-for-year or equivalent basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in making decisions that conform to State and Federal Regulations. Experience in transportation-related project delivery or program management.
  • Experience or training in the development or oversight of professional performance measures.
  • Experience as a supervisor and successfully leading a team in achieving goals.

Other: Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
