The Department and Health and Human Services' Office of Economic Assistance is seeking a results-driven professional to join our Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Employment and Training (E&T) team as a Business Service Representative. This position will work directly with employers and community partners to identify, develop and promote employment opportunities for SNAP E&T participants. The position supports participant placement through employer engagement, labor market research and job matching in coordination with case managers and partner agencies. The Business Service Representative:

  • Is responsible for conducting business outreach, promoting SNAP E&T services, and advocating for participants by aligning their skills and interests with workforce needs.
  • Will identify employment opportunities, develop job leads, and coordinate employer engagement activities to support participant job placement and retention.
  • Maintains regular coordination with community-based organizations, workforce partners, and state agency leadership to support program alignment, share labor market insights, and strengthen employer pipelines through collaborative initiatives and statewide efforts.
  • Will work with computer databases and update, document, and verify information, accurately process assigned work tasks, and prepare correspondence.

This position covers Lexington and surrounding areas. Travel to alternative work sites will be necessary for outreach.

Hiring Rate for this Position: $22.140 per hour – Non-Exempt Work Schedule: Monday Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Dress Attire: Business Casual

Valid Driver's License – Driving is Required Location: At the Department of Labor Office in Lexington

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework or training in social/behavioral sciences, counseling, business, public administration, education, marketing or a related field; OR experience in client development and case management including interviewing, research and direct customer service.

Preferred Qualifications: Direct experience working with businesses, job development, sales, networking, relationship building, case management, human services. Candidates with prior exposure to employment and training programs, employer engagement, or Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)/SNAP E&T are preferred. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential.

Other: Valid driver's license or able to provide independent authorized transportation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge, skills, or experience relating to database use, customer service, and professional communication. We are looking for individuals who demonstrate initiative in seeking out and developing/maintaining positive partnerships, have a self-starter mindset, good communication skills, and must be results driven. Must have good time management skills, flexibility, and ability to set and manage priorities. Skill in conducting formal presentations to provide education and share information. Ability to plan, organize time and responsibilities; work collaboratively in a team setting; analyze, develop and organize materials; establish and maintain positive relationships with agency staff, service providers/contractors, community organizations and clients; communicate electronically, on paper or in person to promote, explain, discuss, advise and interact with interested groups on various program-related topics; exercise independent critical thinking skills; maintain liaison with community representatives.
