Accountant I – BSDC Support

Examples of Work
- Manage receipt of state funds and process deposits with accuracy and timeliness.
- Coordinate ordering of funds from the bank to ensure operational needs are met.
- Distribute Behavioral Support Program (BSP) funds to individuals served in alignment with approved plans.
- Balance cash drawers daily and maintain precise financial records.
- Review invoices and internal transactions for accuracy; initiate requisitions in On-Base to ensure prompt payment processing.
- Prepare and distribute staff funds for trips as scheduled.
- Assemble BSP bags in accordance with individual service plans.
- Generate, prepare, and export client payroll reports.
- Reconcile credit card receipts against statements; code and forward reconciliations and supporting documentation to designated personnel.
- Serve as back-up approver for payment requests to maintain workflow continuity.
- Provide back-up support for client fund management, including balancing cash drawers, posting daily withdrawals and deposits, and assisting individuals in managing their money programs.
- Ensure compliance with policies governing Residents' Trust Funds.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge
- Principles and practices of accounting theory, double-entry accounting, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Accounting systems, methods for maintaining records, and financial reporting procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and database management software.
- Methods for filing, organizing, and retrieving accounting data accurately.
Skills
- Gathering, compiling, and analyzing financial data in spreadsheets and databases.
- Reconciling accounts and ensuring accuracy of financial information.
- Applying mathematical methods, formulas, and percentages to interpret data.
- Designing reports and summarizing complex financial information clearly.
Abilities
- Learn and apply agency-specific programs, accounting systems, and GAAP standards.
- Classify transactions, maintain accounts, and prepare financial reports and statements.
- Communicate effectively with staff and the public to obtain or relay financial information.
- Review documentation for accuracy, take corrective action as needed, and ensure compliance with policies.
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework or vocational education in accounting, finance, business administration or related field OR experience performing accounting functions including interpreting and analyzing financial data.
Preferred Requirements: Associates Degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, complemented by experience in functions such as reconciliations, financial reporting, or audit support. Proficiency with financial systems, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring compliance are preferred.
