Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team. You will contribute to the design and development of scalable, secure, and user-centric applications that power Versant's next-generation platforms. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in startup-like environments, is eager to learn, and is passionate about using SaaS and low-code/no-code platforms to deliver value quickly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver full-stack solutions that solve real business problems.
  • Implement scalable, fault-tolerant microservices and modern front-end applications.
  • Use SaaS and low-code/no-code platforms where appropriate to accelerate delivery.
  • Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and team knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Write secure, performant, and maintainable code.
  • Work closely with product and architecture teams to ensure alignment in technical direction and business priorities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong knowledge of backend development in languages such as Java, Node.js, Python, or Go.
  • Skilled in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Develop scalable and high performing microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex issues in distributed environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to GenAI tools, SaaS platforms, and low-code/no-code tools.
  • Familiarity with serverless technologies and event-driven architecture.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tooling (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Working knowledge of monitoring stacks like Datadog, Prometheus, or ELK.
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems or integrating with enterprise platforms.
  • Awareness of DevOps practices and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Background in media, entertainment business domain is a plus.
