News Producer, Telemundo News Service Miami
Telemundo Station Group, part of NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations division, is comprised of local television stations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Telemundo News Service (TNS) provides content and coordination for these stations as well as Telemundo Affiliates across the country.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a short-term PEP position with an estimated duration of 12 months, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.
Responsibilities include:
- Selecting stories, understanding all elements, and designing a newscast that achieves the daily goal.
- Executing live shots and satellite remotes during live newscasts.
- Responding to breaking news with urgency and accuracy.
- Working with journalists to improve story and presentation.
- Writing news scripts and editing.
- Contributing story ideas, participating in daily coverage decisions, and editorial meetings.
- Leadership: taking responsibility for own actions, taking risks for the team, and being a team player.
- Understanding and following all Telemundo News standards and ethics.
Qualifications required:
- Leadership qualities, being detail oriented, organized, and able to handle intense deadline pressure.
- Ability to solve problems, prioritize decisions, and manage multiple assignments concurrently in a high-pressure, breaking news environment.
- Knowledge of non-linear editing and shooting workflow.
- News judgment with a solid ethical decision process.
- Excellent Spanish, reading, writing, and speaking skills.
- Strong English, reading, writing, and speaking.
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Eligibility requirements:
- Willing to work long hours, varying shifts (including nights and weekends) and report to work in emergencies depending upon news coverage when necessary.
- Unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Willing to work in Miami, FL and travel as needed for special assignments.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Additional requirements:
- Required on-site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
