Senior Fluidics Hardware Engineer

Nanogami is a highly innovative and rapidly growing startup in the field of DNA Origami-based nanotechnology. Our international team is driven by a shared vision: to pioneer a novel generation of biochips set to unlock applications in research and diagnostics and thereby pushing the boundaries of personalized medicine to new heights. In 2022 we secured significant funding by SPRIND - Germany's Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation to realize our ambitious growth trajectory and now aim to significantly expand our current team to support the at-scale commercialization of our nanotechnology.

We are seeking a Senior Fluidics Hardware Engineer (m/f/d) to build and lead our newly established fluidics team. This critical role involves the end-to-end design and development of a fluidic cartridge system for medical sample processing. Your core responsibility will be to lead the design, production, and verification of a fluidic subsystem for diagnostic applications, with a strong focus on sample preparation, purification, fluid control, and COGS optimization. You will drive projects from early prototypes to pre-production units, combining in-house prototyping and analytical tools with strategic support from external service providers and manufacturers.

How you will contribute:

  • Build and lead our fluidics engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Lead the end-to-end design and development of our single-use fluidic cartridge system, focusing on sample preparation, purification, and precise liquid handling and COGS.
  • Drive the design, production, and verification of prototypes (from early concept to pre-production units), utilizing both internal capabilities and managing external manufacturing partners.
  • Champion Design for Manufacturing (DfM) principles, with a strong emphasis on cost-effective, high-volume production.
  • Conduct materials selection and testing, ensuring compatibility and performance for diagnostic applications.
  • Collaborate intimately with our DNA Origami biochip team to ensure optimal fluidic integration and system performance and the Hardware team for interfacing the cartridge to a readout device.
  • Manage supplier relationships for manufacturing processes, ensuring adherence to quality (GxP) and cost targets.
  • Take ownership of product development planning and R&D budgeting for the fluidics subsystem
