Quality Engineer/Specialist (Canada)
Location: Markham, ON, CA, L3R 0J3
Position Summary:
Quality Engineer will be responsible for implementing quality assurance during the design and development of the product life cycle. Monitoring the product quality throughout the product life cycle. Identifying and resolving quality issues which include troubleshooting problems, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions. Analyzing quality data and reporting on quality metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement, risk mitigation, active involvement with multi-functional teams to develop better understanding of the quality issues to drive continuous improvement. Active participation in ISO external/internal audits, support in implementation of Murata’s QMS, managing customer and management of SCARs/CAT/8Ds, and Stop order processes.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Active participation with Design team during product development ensuring all MPS and customer quality requirements are followed. Involvement in DFMEA and other stage gates during product development.
- Develop and the execution of quality plan to ensure manufacturing is following customer specific requirements and product quality.
- Data analysis of past problem history and warranty data to drive continuous improvement. Thoroughness and accuracy in all aspects of quality control.
- Analyzing data, identifying trends, and interpreting results. Identifying and resolving quality issues.
- Active involvement in ECO and Stop order processes to make them efficient and effective.
- Work with FA engineers to generate and review of FA (Failure analysis) reports with focus to ensure effective corrective and preventive actions for future mitigation of similar failure modes by participating in FMEA meetings.
- Promote preventive and proactive culture (poke yoke).
- Understanding of lean methodology to decrease nonvalue added activities for cost savings.
- Work with manufacturing sites/quality teams to ensure successful execution of customer’s quality control plans for manufacturing of conforming products.
- To prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly presentations for global quality.
- Investigation of customer complaints, internal failures and to issue 8D, SCAR, CAT/CAP for any customer, suppliers and CM issue along with data validation to ensure actions are properly implemented and audited.
- Active participation in ISO external/internal audits and support in implementation of Murata’ QMS (Quality Management System).
Experience Required:
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical or Electronic) or equivalent degree with electronic manufacturing experience.
- 4+ years of relevant industry experience in the quality department with strong technical knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical components, and systems
- Demonstrated problem solving skills, using 8D, A3, DMAIC, SPC, DOE, PDCA, 5P, 5Why, FT, process mapping and/or equivalent quality tools, methods and techniques
- Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
- Highly motivated individual with a passion for Quality and innovation.
- Experience in working with remote teams and CMs (Contract Manufacturers).
- Nice to have ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification
- Good understanding of statistical methods, continuous improvement, lean methodology (Green or six-sigma black belt certification will be plus)
- Practical working experience in MS-Word, Excel, power point, MS project and Minitab
- Ability to travel up to 15% to 20% domestically and internationally

This position is an on-site role, with 1 flex day per week of remote work.
