AVP, Global Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
The AVP, Global Strategic Sourcing & Category Management is a key leadership role responsible for developing and executing global sourcing strategies that optimize cost, reduce risk, strengthen supplier partnerships, and enhance overall business value for a leading medical claims & network management, data management, and technology organization.
This role oversees enterprise-wide category management across technology, professional services, data services, network operations, and other critical spend categories. The AVP is accountable for establishing strategic supplier relationships, driving contract excellence, enabling operational efficiency, and ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and emerging industry trends. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in complex sourcing environments, vendor governance, and category strategy—combined with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive enterprise-wide transformation.
Strategic Sourcing Leadership
- Develop and implement multi-year global sourcing strategies aligned with corporate, operational, and technology roadmaps.
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for complex, high-value spend categories (technology infrastructure, SaaS, data services, medical networks, operations outsourcing, professional services, etc.).
- Build category strategies that leverage market intelligence, competitive benchmarks, supplier capabilities, and internal business needs.
- Drive enterprise adoption and compliance with sourcing methodologies, tools, policies, and category strategies.
Category Management
- Oversee category lifecycle management to optimize spend, value, risk, performance, and innovation.
- Conduct category analysis, develop spend forecasts, and implement continuous improvement and supplier consolidation initiatives.
- Partner with business units, technology, finance, and legal to align category strategies to functional priorities.
Supplier Relationship & Performance Management
- Establish and govern strategic supplier partnerships to enhance innovation, service delivery, and compliance.
- Implement supplier scorecards, quarterly business reviews, and performance KPIs.
- Lead supplier negotiations and executive-level engagements to secure value, quality, and contractual strength.
- Identify and mitigate supplier risks, including operational, cybersecurity, compliance, and concentration risks.
Contracting & Commercial Optimization
- Lead commercial strategy, negotiation, and contracting of enterprise agreements, statements of work, renewals, and amendments.
- Partner with Legal and Risk to ensure contracts comply with regulatory frameworks relevant to healthcare technology (HIPAA, data privacy, security standards, etc.).
- Drive cost optimization initiatives, total cost of ownership (TCO) evaluations, and complex financial modeling.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Governance
- Serve as a strategic advisor to senior executives on sourcing trends, supplier innovation, and market conditions.
- Partner closely with Vendor Management, Risk, InfoSec, Compliance, and Finance to support holistic supplier lifecycle governance.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing global team of sourcing professionals.
- Develop dashboards, reporting, and analytics to communicate category performance and sourcing outcomes to executive leadership.

The base salary range for this position is $180k-195k. Specific offers take into account a candidate's education, experience and skills, as well as the candidate's work location and internal equity. This position is also eligible for health insurance, 401k, and as part of our competitive total compensation package, this role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance, as well as participation in our equity program.
