Vice President Of Operations - Full Time - RN

Position Overview:

The Vice President of Operations develops and leads strategic, growth, and operational objectives on a broad basis to manage assigned departments. Provides strategic planning, policy making, and general administration to ensure excellent patient care delivery systems. Collaborates with executive leadership on development of infrastructure, physician partnerships, health system operations, facilities planning, budgeting, policy-making and administration. Develops and builds new service lines to support Montrose Regional Health (MRH) and community growth.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides senior leadership for the operation of assigned departments. Provides recommendations for operational changes and ensures implementation and adherence.
  • Facilitates, measures, evaluates, and interprets needs of patients and performance of caregivers and departmental leaders.
  • Keeps current with clinical practice and research to ensure patient care delivery systems are safe and follows appropriate standard of care.
  • Ensures physician, caregiver and patient satisfaction, service excellence, and physician collaboration. Directs the planning, organizing, monitoring, and improving of the quality of programs and services according to the performance improvement principles.
  • Responsible for overall budgeting and financial oversight driving productivity and quality.
  • Provides effective management support through the leadership team to deliver a high performing and engaged culture.
  • Recognize, exemplify, and adhere to MRH's pillars and values which center around caregiver experience, quality and safety, patient and family experience, technology and infrastructure, and finance and growth.
  • Promotes professional relationships with medical staff, facilitating improvement of patient care.
  • Develops business development initiatives for service line growth. Works with the hospital leadership to lead development of marketing strategies.
  • Collaborates with internal constituents on the development of provider workforce needs and recruitment plans, supports provider negotiations and on-boarding processes, and assists with provider compliance with contract terms.
  • Participates in provider compensation methodology and communication (when applicable). Engages providers in developing productivity standards, time-off, part-time/full-time policies, and other physician workforce issues (when applicable).
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Minimum Required Education: Master's degree (or enrolled in program and must attain Master's degree within 3 years from the date in the VP position) in Business Administration, Health Administration, Nursing or other relevant field.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: Depending on assigned departments, this position requires current nursing licensure in Colorado or compact state. Certifications relevant to clinical areas of assigned departments preferred.
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years' progressive healthcare management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management for a healthcare organization preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to remain agile and even-tempered when facing changing daily demands.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
