Part-time Faculty Position

The Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching Human Evolution and Archeology. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Availability and willingness to work in person on the Germantown campus Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:45, and Thursday from 2 to 4:40pm.
  • Teach ANTH215 & 216 (Human Evolution and Archeology Lecture & Lab) on the Germantown campus.
  • In future semesters, other sociology courses may be taught at other campuses during day, evening, or weekend hours.
  • Administer signature assignments given by all faculty and utilize other required course materials, including zero-cost materials when possible.
  • Hold all classes as scheduled and respond promptly to student communication.
  • Evaluate, grade, and return all student assignments and assessments in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all College policies as outlined in the faculty handbook, SEIU contract, policies and procedures, dean and chair memoranda, and other relevant documents.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Anthropology or a closely related discipline.
  • Two years teaching experience, including teaching experience in biological anthropology and/or archeology.
  • Lab or field experience in biological anthropology and/or archaeology.
  • A demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and willingness to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in anthropology or a closely related field.
  • Experience teaching at the collegiate level.
  • Experience teaching learners who are pursuing college credit while still in high school.
