Local Sales Representative

We're seeking a highly motivated, self-starting Local Sales Representative to join our team on a commission-only basis. You will be responsible for selling digital advertising, sponsorships, and event partnerships to local businesses in your assigned market. Ideal candidates have experience in local or SMB media sales (think ReachLocal, Yelp, or local magazine ad sales), understand small business owners, and thrive in a performance-driven environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prospect and cold call local businesses (e.g., camps, classes, attractions, restaurants, pediatricians) to pitch digital advertising and sponsorship packages
- Build and manage a local pipeline using our CRM (Zoho)
- Close deals and exceed monthly/quarterly revenue targets
- Collaborate with the editorial and marketing teams to ensure successful campaign execution
- Educate clients on our audience reach, engagement, and campaign options
- Represent Mommy Poppins at local events and build community relationships
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in local ad sales, digital media, or small business outreach
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and follow-up skills
- Self-driven, organized, and able to work independently
- Comfortable with commission-only compensation structure
- Familiarity with local family-focused businesses is a plus
- Knowledge of CRMs (Zoho preferred) and digital advertising metrics a bonus
What you'll sell:
- Sponsored articles and guide placements
- Featured event listings
- Display ads and social media promotions
- Seasonal campaigns and email sponsorships
- Custom event or video integrations
Compensation: Commission-only structure with uncapped earning potential. Typical reps earn between $2,000–$6,000/month depending on effort and pipeline.
Requirements:
- 1-4+ years of digital media sales experience
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals
- Ability to work independently to craft creative, multi-faceted requests for proposals
- Team player who can foster friendly competition with other representatives
- Self-starter who can handle all aspects of sales funnel, from prospecting to putting together media plans and proposals, to crafting pitch and outreach campaigns
- Self-motivated and reliable
- Operate as an independent contractor in a 100% remote work environment
- Provide your own computer, phone, high-speed internet and office space
