Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality compliance, implementation & development of quality systems and ensuring efficient & effective quality assurance for all products. This role will also interface with Business Leaders and functions to support Supplier Quality, Product Quality/Quality Control, Customer Quality and continuous improvement teams to improve the sites' processes.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize appropriate quality data and statistical analysis from various representative sources to ensure statistical trends and necessary control actions are addressed
  • Use data and analytics to prioritize activities driving reductions in the cost of poor quality KPIs
  • Responsible for creating, publishing and maintaining quality inspection plans
  • Create work instructions & procedures related to quality business processes
  • Identify and lead process improvement projects including facilitating of process improvement events that improve product quality and/or reduce process variation
  • Support Customer Complaint, product nonconformity, and audit root cause investigations through leading/facilitating, corrective/preventive action implementation
  • Ability to lead quality activities within New Product Introductions and Management of Change process for internal and/or supplier quality function
  • Ability to lead Quality activities in supporting Engineering tests and Validation plans
  • Participate in and/or lead internal, customer, supplier and 3rd party quality systems audits
  • Collaborate with global site quality peers and site leadership to promote best practices between sites
  • Meet with stakeholders on a regular schedule to review progress of quality improvement initiatives
  • Act as a mentor to Process Quality Technician(s)
  • Implement and maintain site QMS in accordance with the ISO9001 or other relevant standards and global QMS requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Technical field
  • 5-7 years experience in quality, process engineering, or related role
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in Six Sigma and statistical tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledgeable in quality standards (example: AS9100 and ISO 9001).
  • Auditing experience required; certified lead auditor preferred
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English to effectively communicate with customers and internal teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Minitab
  • Expert knowledge of SAP QM functional module, and Master Data
  • Experience in chemical industry desired
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification desired

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 10%

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time
  • Onsite, manufacturing plant
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during audits, inspections or site visits
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs
