Manufacturing Engineering Technician

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician working under limited supervision, lays out, builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies assemblies, components, and parts of developmental and production product items. Will take initiative to improve existing processes and make recommendations for product improvement. Performs relatively complex assignments and solves problems that may have a variety of solutions. Adapts work methods to different situations.

Perform duties to improve overall quality and eliminate the causes of scrap and rework, acquire electrical and/or mechanical process data and drive changes to improve productivity. Determine and analyze root cause of scrap and rework failure(s) and defects to drive process improvements.

Responsibilities can include working on special projects with Manufacturing Engineering in such areas as process improvement and design changes, new product introduction or process development.

Responsibilities:

  • Recommend process improvements and remedial corrective actions based on thorough analysis and direct actions.
  • Implement changes through Mizuho OSI ECN Process.
  • Assist with DMF process to minimize product defects.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineer to perform investigations and root cause analysis to resolve and mitigate Product Experience Report.
  • Assist Engineering to evaluate and revise test procedures and methods. Selecting test equipment, defining measurement parameters to verify product performance.
  • Interact effectively across functions such as, but not limited to working with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, Quality and Document Control.
  • Support sustaining Manufacturing Engineering such as parts disposition (both preliminary review and MRB) and write rework instructions in a timely manner.
  • Initiate corrective action on design, workmanship and vendor issues.
  • Modify work and/or test instructions to reflect current or new manufacturing processes.
  • Keep neat, legible, complete notebook records and data sheets of all tests and projects.
  • Provide summary reports of findings and recommendations to management.

The duties of this job require the employee to stand and to use hands to manipulate very small objects and hand tools for long periods of time. The employee is required to walk and occasionally to lift up to 45 pounds during the normal course of work. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Within the Production Floor the employee may be exposed to sharp objects, small tools, hot objects, adhesives, UV light, various testing equipment, isopropyl alcohol, soldering equipment, hi-pot testers and other electrical test equipment, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Requires 6 + years directly related experience including schematics/blueprints.
  • Technical school certificate or AS Degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Background in testing equipment is highly preferred.
  • Ability to read drawings, blueprints and engineering instructions.
  • Able to read and analyze data.
  • Strong knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer and peripherals, hand tools, power and machine tools, scopes, meters and other measuring devices, and electrical test equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Able to meet multiple, sometimes conflicting deadlines.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and be team oriented.
  • Must be capable of resolving unusual, non-standard problems.
  • Neat and professional appearance and outgoing people-oriented personality which conveys pride in working for Mizuho OSI and which is demonstrated with a ready smile and a willingness to assist others.
  • Ability to clearly express oneself verbally and in writing in the English language (additional languages also preferred) using good grammar, vocabulary, and eye contact.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and other business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong presentation, project and organizational skills.

Pay Scale: $56,000- $90,000 DOE + potential annual bonus + comprehensive benefits package
