Project Engineer

Join a dynamic team as a Project Engineer in a fast-paced steel fabrication shop. This role is perfect for someone passionate about precision, quality, and continuous improvement. You will be the engineering point person, working closely with fabrication teams, project managers, and clients to ensure engineering excellence from concept through delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Lead engineering efforts for steel fabrication projects from design to delivery.
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and technical requirements.
• Create and modify CAD files for burn table programming and fabrication.
• Oversee factory acceptance testing, assembly, and final inspections.
• Prepare and submit technical documentation including shop drawings, design details, and submittals.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment with project goals and customer expectations.
• Attend cross-functional meetings and represent engineering in project discussions.
• Conduct pre-shipment inspections and sign off on quality reports.
• Support proposal development with concept and preliminary drawings.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (AWS, ASTM, NAVSEA, MIL-SPEC).

Essential Skills:

• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
• Strong understanding of welding processes and fabrication techniques.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or 5+ years of engineering experience in steel fabrication or related industry.
• Experience with PQRs, WPSs, and NDT methods (MT, RT, UT, VT) is a plus.
• Familiarity with industry standards and specifications.

Work Environment:

Work on-site from 7:00 AM to 3:30/4:00 PM, with potential Saturday work during busy periods. Split your time equally between the fabrication shop and office. The office is small, fostering close collaboration with two other employees.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, Missouri.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $53.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
