The Forest City recycling facility is one of 10 lead acid battery recycling centers in the United States. With a budgeted staff of 97 employees, the facility recently celebrated more than 50 years within the Forest City community. This position is responsible for executing plant maintenance and engineering projects in compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Will have budget and project management oversight, responsible for planning, sourcing, purchasing and execution of regular rebuilds and capital projects while managing approximately 15 team members in a 24/7 365, union plant environment.
Compliance with all plant safety policies & procedures. Specifically responsible for the LOTO, Arc Flash, Thermal and other programs. Compliance with all plant environmental policies & procedures, as well as responsible for compliance monitoring systems. Analyze technical data for breakdown issues and conduct post-breakdown investigations. Be able to analyze the data to determine causes, downtime elimination, etc. Daily floor presence and walk throughs with an understanding of lead environment. Preventative maintenance on all equipment within each department. Rebuild planning, sourcing, purchasing & execution. From start to finish, plan, generate scope of work, obtain quotes, schedule contractors as needed and completion of all maintenance-related projects. Implement process changes and upgrades to improve plant performance. Oversee the CMMS program through Supervisor and direct report inputs. Roll out of TPM program by streamlining PMs on equipment, reduce downtime, etc. Provide directions to maintenance staff & hold accountable for completion of tasks. Capital Project budgeting, Maintenance budgeting & Rebuild budget. Troubleshooting online PLCs. Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Certifications BS in Management or Engineering preferred 5-10 years in a Maintenance Supervisory or Engineering Lead role required Competencies, Skills, Knowledge Able to effectively communicate with executives, plant manager, plant leadership team, and employees on the plant floor Continuous learner, always seeking to understand how things work and how to keep things running Understanding of CAD and reading prints Generation of RFQs Exposure to Allen Bradley programs a plus Broad understanding of the following: PLCs Hydraulics Pneumatics Mechanical, structural, electrical troubleshooting Exposure to CMMS systems (L2L, Maximo, etc.)
Ability to lift up to 40lbs Occasional sitting, standing, walking, bending
This position requires you to be on site. Lead recycling environment Full face respirator required when inside the plant Compliance with lead hygiene practices to include showering out before leaving plant facility
Occasional travel is required for training, development, and support needs. Some travel may require overnight stays.
