Your Opportunity

MAC Surry Hills provides 32 beds known as Spectrum Apartments. Spectrum Apartments are supported housing units for men aged 18 and over who are newly homeless or have been homeless for a short period. We take a holistic approach offering individualised case management, a living skills program and onsite access to specialised medical, educational and well-being programs.

This role will provide support to clients from diverse backgrounds and also assist in the daily operations of the crisis units.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Assist clients with daily living activities such as meal preparation and accessing medications
  • Respond to any emergencies by accessing required internal or external support service
  • Assist with the coordination of client attendance at different programs, services and community meetings
  • Assist in general supervision of the clients throughout the services to ensure appropriate support
  • Collaborate with Unit Coordinators and other staff by providing client coordination and monitoring
  • Contribute to the general running of the centre and undertake shift checks as required
  • Complete a range of other administrative tasks for the efficient running of the centre
  • Ensure correct procedures are followed in relation to petty cash reimbursements, rent payments and occupation fees

Requirements for Success

  • Relevant experience in homelessness and working in residential setting
  • Comprehensive understanding of the issues and needs of service users particularly homelessness
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
