Position Purpose

Perform advanced HR transactional work including problem identification and resolution for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. Provide technical HR support to campus HR staff in support of supervisors and employees in the areas of HR transaction entry, analysis and reconciliation, leave entry and reporting. Provide customer service and support to Campus HR offices related to transactional work. Respond to routine questions in areas such as salary information, technology use, contract provisions, etc. ensuring that questions are answered accurately or escalated appropriately.

Principle Responsibilities and Results

1. Perform HR transactions entry, reconciliation, problem identification and resolution so that all employee transactions and records are accurately maintained and compliant with established policies, regulations, laws and bargaining unit guidelines.

Priority: Essential Percent of Time: 50%

2. Run and review audit reports to identify transactional errors and make corrections to ensure accuracy.

Priority: Essential Percent of Time: 15%

3. Together with service center Accounting Technician, ensure that payroll discrepancies are identified and communicated to campus HR partners and that payroll reconciliation is completed accurately and on time.

Priority: Essential Percent of Time: 15%

4. Partner with campus HR staff to ensure compliance with HR business processes so that employees are compensated and campuses are served in a timely and accurate manner that meets defined service level expectations.

Priority: Essential Percent of Time: 15%

5. Other duties as assigned.

Priority: Secondary Percent of Time: 5%

Salary Range: $24.05 ($50,216) - $34.65 ($72,349)

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years human resources experience processing HR transactions, payroll, or benefits.
  • Analytical skills sufficient to audit data and identify and correct errors.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers on the phone or through written correspondence and effectively communicate information with tact and diplomacy in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualification

  • Human Resources experience working in the Minnesota State system
  • Experience with federal and state employment laws
  • Experience working with HRIS systems
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and working with confidential material
