The Health Sciences Student Services Coordinator leads and coordinates the recruitment, admissions, and student success initiatives for the college's special application/cohort-based health science programs. This position plays a critical role in facilitating prospective student engagement, supporting the enrollment process, and ensuring the retention and success of admitted students in health science cohort programs including Dental Hygiene, Nursing, and Community Health Worker Navigator programs.

In collaboration with departments across Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, this position facilitates a successful student experience throughout the student life cycle. The coordinator proactively manages student caseloads, provides advising and intervention strategies to support retention and completion, and facilitates program-specific enrollment and orientation activities. Additionally, the position serves as a key resource for faculty, program directors, and internal and external partners. This position supports compliance with college and system policy/procedures as well as accreditation requirements, advances student success outcomes, transfer support, and develops internal and external partnerships.

Aligned with Normandale Community College's mission and strategic framework, the Health Science Enrollment & Student Success Coordinator actively engages in institutional strategies to promote equitable access, improve student persistence, and cultivate a culturally responsive academic environment. By providing hands-on student support, leading enrollment initiatives, and driving continuous improvement efforts, this position contributes to the college's broader goal of increasing completion rates and preparing students for success in the healthcare field.

Essential:

  • One year of experience working with students in higher education
  • Experience with college student success, enrollment, and retention initiatives
  • Ability to learn, understand, and explain complex policy, procedure, and program information
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of diverse student and family populations and meet their unique needs
  • Exceptional human relations, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and respond to data, specifically related to student records

Preferred:

  • Bachelors and/or Master's degree
  • Three or more years of experience within a college or university admissions, career, advising, or counseling department
  • Experience working in health care industry and/or health science professional preparation programs
  • Experience creating and delivering programming to college students
  • Project management experience
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Somali, Hmong, or Arabic
