Peripheral Interventions (Pi) R&D Engineer Intern

Join our Peripheral Interventions Team, where we create innovative technologies to diagnose and treat peripheral vascular disease. We're thrilled to be developing a new platform technology to treat calcified artery disease. We're looking for a dynamic R&D engineer to join a cross-function team to support the catheter development and integration. Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Design and Development: Assist in the design and development of medical devices, conducting feasibility studies, developing prototypes, and performing testing and validation.
  • Problem-Solving and Compliance: Support investigations into failure modes, perform root cause analyses, and develop solutions to address technical challenges. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process development, quality, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs, to ensure successful product development and integration.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and review engineering documentation, including technical reports, design history files, and regulatory submissions. Present project updates and technical insights to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must graduate between December 2026 and May 2028.
  • Must have at least one semester of school left post-internship.
  • Must be able to commit to one of the following full internship program periods: May 18th - August 7th OR May 26th - August 14th.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the Maple Grove, MN Boston Scientific Corporate location.
  • Experience collaborating on an engineering project in school or in a professional environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment or industry, with awareness of documentation and compliance expectations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, judgment, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
  • Organized and results-oriented; ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize competing tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong hypothesis-driven experimental design and statistical analysis skills.
