Beacon Hill's client in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a detail-oriented and empathetic Payroll Support Specialist to join their team. This is a unique opportunity for someone with strong customer service skills and an interest in payroll to grow within a supportive environment. The role involves direct interaction with employees who have questions or concerns about their paychecks, often requiring patience and clear communication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Answer inbound calls from employees regarding paycheck issues, paystubs, and system access.
• Provide clear explanations of payroll components such as taxes, wage garnishments, and deductions.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to login credentials, password resets, and system navigation.
• Use PeopleSoft to research and resolve payroll inquiries; note that processes are manual due to union requirements.
• Maintain professionalism and empathy when handling calls from upset or confused employees.
• Collaborate with payroll team to ensure accurate and timely resolution of issues.
• Receive training and grow into broader payroll responsibilities over time.

Qualifications:

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Basic understanding of payroll concepts (e.g., taxes, deductions, garnishments).
• Comfortable working with computers and troubleshooting technical issues.
• Experience in staffing, recruiting, or HR is a plus-especially if you're looking to transition into payroll.
• Willingness to learn and grow within the payroll department.
