The Metropolitan Council is the regional government for the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area. We plan 30 years ahead for the future of the metropolitan area and provide regional transportation, wastewater, and housing services. Information Services (IS) is the central IT department supporting all divisions of the Metropolitan Council. Our 140 team members provide technology, practices, and innovative solutions that enable the core services of the Council.
The Light Rail Transit (LRT) Network Support Manager is responsible to oversee designing, implementing, and operating the network that supports Light Rail Transit operations and maintenance. This role is critical for ensuring operational continuity, managing system engineers, handling equipment procurement, supporting planning, and facilitating strategic discussions with business partners, while ensuring that LRT network is compliant, secure, and operationally reliable. The LRT Network Support Manager acts as a key leader, interfacing with internal departments and external vendors to provide infrastructure modernization, service delivery, and enhanced rail safety systems support.

Experience with network topology, firewalls, security information and event management (SIEM) and tools, physical and virtual, to support. Experience in a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system environment. Network architecture and SCADA lifecycle management skills. Experience leading technical and non-technical personnel in fast-paced environments. Experience navigating stakeholder engagement and technical planning sessions. Experience in contract management and resource optimization. Experience promoting an equitable, positive, and respectful work environment that values culture and diversity among all employees.
Strategic planning skills for infrastructure and personnel needs. Strong leadership skills in fast-paced, emergent environments. High level of competency in system lifecycle management and modernization strategy. Understanding of public-sector budgeting, purchasing cycles, and compliance frameworks. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (FRA, FTA, NIST, CJIS, PCI). Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve SCADA issues.
