Leave Management Lead

Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is seeking an individual to join our DCT Human Resources team for an exciting opportunity as a Leave Management Lead. As the Leave Management Lead, you will provide human resource guidance and consultation in the areas of coordinating leaves of absence such as FMLA, Paid Parental Leave, Medical Leave, Military Leave, etc. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide lead work direction to HR Leave Management staff to ensure that all leaves of absence are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide leave management services including maintaining databases, providing reports, insurance coordination, and providing quality control for DCT.
  • Consult with and provide guidance to DCT managers and supervisors regarding application of labor contracts and plans so provisions are applied appropriately.

This position requires an employee to be onsite at 3200 Labore Rd, Ste 104, Vadnais Heights, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Telework is available on a limited basis. Only candidates residing in Minnesota or a state bordering Minnesota (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) within 50 miles of the work address listed above are eligible for telework. Candidates residing in Minnesota and more than 50 miles from the primary/principal work address above may be eligible to telework more than 50%.

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates each job's beginning and ending month and year.

  • Two (2) years of experience in Human Resources for the State of Minnesota. Experience must include:
    • Administering FMLA and other types of leave requests including determining eligibility, evaluating, processing and tracking requests.
    • Applying employment contract language, personnel rules, policies, and procedures as it pertains to employee benefits, transactions, and/or payroll.
    • Knowledge of employment laws including ADA, FMLA, Paid Parental Leave, USSERA, Military Leave, unpaid leave, and Government Data Practices.
    • Working knowledge of the AFSCME, MAPE, MMA and MNA collective bargaining agreements; Commissioners and Managerial Plans; rules and laws that affect Human Resources.
    • Database management, electronic spreadsheets, and word processing software skills sufficient to track HR data, create spreadsheets, and draft presentations or correspondences.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills sufficient to ensure policies, bargaining agreements, personnel plans, processes, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations are followed accurately and consistently.
    • Demonstrated communication skills sufficient to interact with a variety of clientele at all levels in order to communicate effectively, accurately and in an understanding, timely manner, all while maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading HR employees
  • Skills using PeopleSoft/SEMA4 sufficient to review employee and position information, pull standard reports, and process personnel transactions.
  • BA degree or higher in Human Resources, Organizational Management or related field.
